I wanted to create a space for my stories. I wanted to share my prose with actual readers. the people for whom this process begins and ends.

4. Drunibarrkk

Pronounced ‘Runi’ -’Bark’

Drunibarrkk is a world of eternal night,

A world of glowing light.

Generated by rock and tree.

By every living creature,

In Crevice, Cave

And Shell.

Carried upon warm spools of wind,

Nestled in the crackles of Lichen.

In Feather, in Fur.

Curled up tight in finger-fronds that unfurl themselves in the direction of the smallest moon.

Emitting a glorious vibration, each one choosing a different note, a frequency that says, ‘Come to me, come to me, come, for I am alone, I am alone ...’

And if we entered its atmosphere, we would see, in the perpetual darkness, light of every hue, brilliant, shimmering, silver-white, icy purple-blue.

Green pinks, yellow-golds, ripe bursting reds and colours we have no name for.

The intricacy of the land, however, its terrain, the structure of the soil.

The shape of stone,

The depths of the sea,

The environment,

The true complexity of these luminous organisms,

The actual form of their habitats, their cycles, the danger.

All such reality would remain hidden from us.

In the darkness …

The search the struggle, the luring of a mate,

A globulous fish,

A worm,

A bat with horns,

A giant quadruped with a glowing stomach,

The rolling-rocks,

The bone-reapers,

The cage-flowers,

The skin-dogs ...

Attraction.

It is all the same,

Animal to Animal,

Blind insect to ringing-singing pollen,

Leaf to moon,

Great-moon, shadow-moon. powder-moon

Predator to Predator,

For one to survive the other must die, the invisible spine-serpent only becomes visible once he is already surrounding his prey.

Drunibarrkk is alive,

Even that which appears inanimate, lives,

Everything lives and thrives and is reborn, just like Earth.

We cannot see it ... will never likely see ...

But we feel its vibrations, the different frequencies spanning Space that say,

‘Come to me come to me, we live, we breathe.’

‘We fight we thrive, we fight, we succeed.’

‘Come to me, come, I need, I need.’
